GRAND TRAVERSE MUSICALE MEETING AND RECITAL OCTOBER 14
Grand Traverse Musicale will host its October 14 meeting at the First Congregational Church, 6105 Center Road, Traverse City. Its business meeting will begin at noon; Prospective members are welcome. There will be a recital performance at 1 p.m. in the church’s chapel. Face masks are encouraged.
The program will be presented by Tom Kaufman, local entertainer, pianist, sculptor and educator. Tom has formerly been the Entertainment Manager at the Grand Traverse Resort. He is the pianist at the Park Place’s popular Beacon Lounge. His popular Kinderbells sculptures are in Cadillac and at Ripley’s Museum. He’s been commissioned by the Sensory Gardens of the Historic Barn park to place a bell sculpture there. His program will include performance of his music, demonstrations of some of the instruments he makes, and discussion of his work in education. Scholarship winner Justin Robb, pianist, will begin the program. The performance is open to the public without charge.
